Ozone Odor Removal
Controlled ozone treatment to eliminate stubborn cabin odors — smoke, mildew, pet, and post-storage staleness. The only method that reaches every surface in the aircraft simultaneously.
Available on-site at your hangar or FBO across the Chicago corridor. Treatments typically complete in 2–4 hours.
Benefits of Professional Ozone Treatment
Unlike masking sprays or enzyme cleaners, ozone oxidizes odor compounds at the molecular level — reaching every surface in the cabin simultaneously.
No Residue, No Chemicals
Ozone (O₃) is a naturally occurring molecule that reverts to oxygen (O₂) after treatment. Unlike spray deodorizers or enzyme cleaners, it leaves zero chemical residue on leather, fabric, or avionics surfaces.
Reaches Everywhere
As a gas, ozone penetrates every surface in the cabin — including areas you can’t reach with wipes or extraction. Deep carpet padding, seat foam interiors, ductwork, and headliner backing are all treated simultaneously.
Fast Turnaround
Most treatments complete in 2–4 hours including setup, treatment cycle, and ventilation. Your aircraft can be flight-ready the same day — ideal for charter turns, pre-sale prep, and owner transitions.
Pairs with Deep Cleaning
For best results, combine ozone treatment with our Deep Interior Reset service. Clean surfaces first, then ozone eliminates what cleaning alone can’t reach. This combination is particularly effective for pre-sale aircraft.
Pre-Sale Value Protection
Cabin odor is one of the top buyer objections during aircraft walkthroughs. A professional ozone treatment before showings can preserve or recover thousands in perceived value.
Documented Treatment
Every ozone treatment is documented with before/after assessment, treatment duration, and generator settings. This record can be included in your aircraft maintenance file.
When Your Aircraft Needs Ozone Treatment
Post-Storage Staleness
Aircraft parked for weeks or months develop a musty, stale cabin smell from trapped humidity, dust settling into fabrics, and stagnant air in enclosed spaces. Ozone treatment is the fastest way to reset the cabin atmosphere before the owner flies again.
Smoke Contamination
Whether from a previous owner, a charter passenger, or ramp fire exposure — tobacco, cigar, and wildfire smoke permeate every soft surface. Ozone molecules reach deep into carpet fibers, leather pores, and headliner material where surface cleaning can’t reach.
Mildew & Mold
Midwest humidity combined with closed cabins creates ideal conditions for mildew growth in carpet underlayment, seat cushion foam, and aft baggage areas. Ozone eliminates mold spores and the musty smell they produce.
Pet & Food Odors
Pet dander, spilled beverages, and galley odors can linger for weeks after cleaning. Ozone oxidizes the organic compounds responsible — not just masking the smell but eliminating it at the molecular level.
Our Treatment Process
A methodical four-step process designed for maximum effectiveness and aircraft safety.
Pre-Treatment Inspection & Cleaning
Before ozone treatment, the cabin is cleaned and vacuumed. Ozone works best on clean surfaces — removing the source material first (pet hair, food debris, surface contaminants) allows the ozone to attack the embedded odor compounds rather than surface-level matter.
Cabin Sealing & Generator Placement
All doors, vents, and openings are sealed to contain the ozone concentration within the cabin. The commercial-grade ozone generator is placed inside the aircraft and calibrated for the cabin volume — from a CJ2 to a Global 7500.
Controlled Ozone Cycle
The generator runs a timed cycle, flooding the cabin with O₃ (ozone). These molecules penetrate every surface — carpet fibers, leather pores, headliner fabric, baggage compartments, cockpit — oxidizing odor-causing bacteria and organic compounds on contact.
Ventilation & Verification
After the treatment cycle, the cabin is thoroughly ventilated until ozone levels return to safe ambient concentrations. We verify the results with a fresh-air assessment and document the treatment for your records.
Best Results: Pair with Interior Detailing
Ozone treatment is most effective after thorough interior cleaning. Our recommended approach: start with a Deep Interior Reset to remove surface contaminants, then follow with an ozone cycle to eliminate embedded odors that cleaning alone can't reach. For pre-sale aircraft, add leather conditioning and exterior detailing for a complete presentation package.
